Highlighting Certifications & Licenses
In USA education, your state teaching license is your most important credential. It must appear prominently—ideatally right after your contact information or in a dedicated "Certifications" section at the top of your resume. Include the license type, grade levels, subject areas, and state of issuance.
If you hold multiple endorsements (ESL, Special Education, Reading Specialist), list them clearly. Many schools use automated screening systems that filter for these specific credentials. Without them visible, your application may never reach human reviewers.
For out-of-state applicants, research reciprocity agreements and note your pathway to state certification. Phrases like "Eligible for [State] Teaching License" or "Reciprocity Pending" signal that you understand local requirements.
